45th MSI MEET 2018 hosted by MACS Agharkar, Pune:
National Fungal Culture Collection of India (NFCCI) at MACS Agharkar Research Institute, conducted an International Symposium on Fungal Biology: Advances, Applications & Conservation in Pune, India, during 19-21 November 2018, under the aegis of 45 Annual Meeting of Mycological Society of India (MSI-MEET 2018). MSI-MEET 2018 included lectures sessions and poster presentations on topics related to recent advances such as in fungal biodiversity, biology and conservation. Though fungi have already established credentials as promising goldmine for a variety of basic and applied researches, only less than 1% of them have received serious attention in various user sectors such as agriculture, food, health and industry. On-going destruction of natural habitats and loss of diverse fungal gene pool is a challenging problem demanding strategic plan for conservation of fungal genomic resources on a sustainable basis within the defined framework of Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). This international symposium helped to bridge the gap between traditional and modern mycology.http://www.fungiindia.co.in/images/2018/MS2018.pdf
